Observing locals on Maafushi, one thing comes up instantly: they are perfectly fit, with unique generous and honest smile, while snow white teeth are just another detail showing how Maldivian diet is incredibly good and healthy. First morning, in a 3 star hotel where I stayed with my family, already provided some food answers during breakfast time.

Beside sausages, French toast, and butter and jam, served to please all the guests, something new and authentic appeared. It’s roshi – a type of dry crepes or a flatbread, fabulous to fill with mashuni – tasty mix of tuna, grated coconut, onions and eventually a few drops of lime juice.
Moreover, this typical breakfast dish became my absolute favorite. Combining it with some fresh tomato or cucumber salad, and I was full of energy to swim even with sharks…

Day by day, it became so obvious what creates an essential platter of this fairy tale country. Abundance of seafood is stunning, so don’t miss various types of coral reef fish. If you are not a fan of traditional curry based sauce, usually applied even on fish, just inform your master chef on time. That’s how freshness and juices of seafood will be saved just for you.
